There where not many rocks this morning, so the QSO did take little more than 1.5 hours :)

4 & 6 meter Quad antenna is now in the new tower

Have now moved the 4 & 6 meters Quad antenna to the new tower, so now will be interesting to se if there is any differance, and not least need some ES to test the antenna :)

OY3SE Steintor helping to move the antenna to the new tower. This location on the roof on the end of the house have been working very good. On 6 meters I have worked EME, many new first ones from OY and even JA with very bad take of in JA direction. On 4 meters also many new country and did even RX GD0TEP of the moon on 4 meters.

FUNcube SDR dongle

On 14/01 the 3rd sale was of 100 FUNcube dongles, and where all these sold in less than 2 minuts.

I was one of the 100 who did get a dongle this time.
Got confirmation this morning, that the dongle has all ready been shipped, so I am looking forward gettin to play whit this new SDR :-)

Will post more about the FUNcube dongle when I have tested it.

The Alpha Spid BIG-RAS rotor did not last for one month!

This was very quick :-(

Have been having problems with the AZ of the rotor for some time, where the readout have not been working, and other days it have been ok.
Two days ago the EL did also stop working, so I did take the rotor down tonight to find out that bouth the AZ AND EL where FULL of water!
But cant se how and where so much water can get in there, in so short time.

So guess there will be some time before I can get the antenna up again :-(

2nd RX test on 23cm EME

Today I did get some time just before moon set, to do some more RX test on 23cm

This was again success on first RX, first G4CCH and then PY2BS.

G4CCH has 5.4m Dish and 450W and PY2BS 4.6m Dish and 500W at feed.

Best decode on G4CCH was -23db, and PY2BS -24db

So this looks very good for my small setup, so hope to be able to TX soon.

Got the first decode of the moon on 23cm this morning :-)

Did decode K2UYH with best at -24db

He was using a 28 feet Dish and 500W in shack, so looks like it will be possible to get some QSO's with this setup when I get the PA installed.

23cm EME

My 23cm EME project have been delayed, and have not got time to finnish the 2.4m dish and base for the dish.

So I have just now installed a 44 El. yagi from Wimo on my Spid AZ/EL rotor

When testing the rotor before installation, I did got some help from my yongest son :-)

I will use my Flex-5000, Kuhne TR1296H Transverter, and LNA from G4DDK

Have allso 150W, but will need to test RX fyrst :-)

Now my SteppIR did break again, and this time the copper wire is damaged also.
And all this just as I have got a temp licens for 60 meters.
But lucky that OY4TN has some unsued copper wire for the SteppIR that I can borrow, so hope to get time to replace it soon.

60 meters licens only valid for one month!

After reading the letter from authority regarding the 60 meters licens again tonight, I se it's only valid for one month, and the price for this month is 87 EURO, this is totally crazy.

Have send them a mail and asked them if this maybe is a print error and maybe shall be one year with that price.

This evening I did receive my 60 meters license :-)

I did first apply for a 60 meter license in december 2008, so this have been a long time waiting.

The license is valid for one year, and is for 5.250 to 5.450 MHz and 100Watt E.R.P

Unfortunally we did have some high wind this weekend and my SteppIR did break (again) so must get it fixed so I can get on 60 meters soon :-)

CQ WPX RTTY Contest 2010

I am participating in CQ WPX RTTY again this year, and allso Single Band 80 meter again.

After sunrise saturday morning on the way home to get some sleep, I took the above picture.

The picture shows the takeoff to europe from the clubhouse, and my new K9AY antenna to the left. The K9AY is used for RX on 80m, and can be switched i four directions.

For TX the centre tower in the picture is used, and is this tower gamma feed for 80m.

For first time we have a webcam at the club and do it show live stream from the radio room where daily HF operation takes place and allso contest's, The webcam that allso is streaming live audio from the radio can been seen here...

Allso I am testing N1MM and uploading live scores to here...

EchoLink for iPhone

EchoLink have now been out there for some years now, but not any version for smartphones as far as I do know.

I was looking for new Ham software on the App Store last night, and there was EchoLink for iPhone and it's allso free.

Have now had it running on my iPhone, and must say that the audio quality is excelent.

So will recomend all Hams with an iPhone to give it a try :-)

I allso did get the beverage kit for one antenna, so hope to have some good RX on low bands soon :-)

So hope I will get time to install the K9AY for the CQ WPX RTTY contest.

What an odd week! Monday and Tuesday were
so-so with OY6FRA (Faroe Islands) and OY1CT making a real splash on Tuesday. The rest of the week was almost none existent. There were a few HGs on Saturday and Sunday, well it was their contest after all.

CQ WPX RTTY Contest 2009

Photo: 20m tower at the club. The tower is gamma feeded for 80 & 160m, and in top of the tower there is a 5el 10m yagi.

This year I did particepate again in the WPX RTTY Contest.
On Friday I decided to go and check the antenna for 80m, and allso to tune the tower to the RTTY band.
Conditions where not good, as bouth A & K indeks where high.
All week berfore the contest I have been hearing NA stations at home with my SteppIR antenna, but on Friday the conditions did change :-(
And during the contest I did only work two NA stations, very few DX stations including one VK so moust of the QSO's where in Europe.

So here is my clamed score:

Total: QSOs 732 Pts 2974
Prefixes = 380 Total Score = 1,130,120

70MHz EME!

Did receive GD0TEP off the moon tonight on 4 meter.

Andy, GD0TEP was using 2x8 element long boom yagi, and my antenna is only a 4 element Quad.
The beam heading here is not good as I was beaming over my roof who is made of metal, and the hight of my antenna is only about 2m over the roof.
So this is not any good for ground gain.

This is my very fyrst reception on 4 meter from the moon, and maybe allso one off the first ever on this band except from some echo tests that some stations have done.

Allready back in January 2006 GD0TEP and GD4GNH did make some echo test off the moon on 70MHz.

Preparing for CQWW RTTY 2008

After I order a phase box from Comtek a year ago, I finally desided to now was the time to install it.
The antennars are inverted V mounded on a 18m tower att our clubstation it Torshavn.
This did all take much longer time than expected.
When all antennas where phased the problems did start as we did get very high SWR on two of the antennas.

On the photo, OY9JD Jon is checking the SWR.

We used days on adjusting & adjustin, but have still not got good SWR on all antennas.
The problem is maybe related to interaction from one ot the others towers.

Thanks to OY9JD & OY1JD for the help with the antennas.

Here is my equipment setup at the club.

Amp Acom 1000
Software N1MM & MTTY

Conditions where not the best, but there was huge difference on direction of the antennas.
